If These Walls Could Talk…

The Panoramic Motel has seen so much of North Wildwood’s history… it leads us to wonder, if these walls could talk, what stories would they tell? Maybe they’d talk about this!

The Panoramic Brochure from 1966

  • Chris and Sue are the third owners of the Panoramic, AKA the third couple to make this little slice of never-ending vacation their home, working every day to ensure that visitors feel as much at home as they do.
  • For decades, families have used the Panoramic as a reunion spot to meet with their loved ones whom they may not be able to see for the rest of the year. Separate families have met and bonded over the years, creating bonds that have lasted lifetimes and leading them to book the exact same dates annually! Even the owners’ daughters have made close friends with annual visitors.
  • The Panoramic has been successful through the years with their proximity to major cities. At times when gas prices inflate, it has served as a close and affordable family vacation destination for many. Only 1.5 hours from Philadelphia, 3-4 hours from New York City and 3.5 hours from Baltimore makes it an easy drive to get away to North Wildwood for a weekend.
  • The Motel & Apartments have been very lucky over the years with the storms. When Hurricane Sandy came through there was a mandatory evacuation of the island. Preparations were made – all the chairs were taken inside from around the pool and in front of each room and fingers were crossed before leaving the island. The water from the ocean came up to Surf Avenue and the water from the bay came up to Atlantic Avenue, flooding the area – but the Panoramic was saved from water damage because of the building’s subtle elevation!

Things that HAVE changed:

-There used to be a shuffleboard court outside of the check-in office, but the space has now been converted to tables to picnic and pool chairs to sunbathe.

-Some rooms used to hold only a single bed; now all rooms have two beds to better accommodate families.

-Room decor. Fashion. Hairstyles. (see brochure!)

-The sign: well, it’s the original sign, we just updated the panels with new, vibrant colors!

Things that HAVEN’T changed:

-The family-friendly atmosphere.

-The hospitality of the owners.

-The prime location, a few minutes’ walk from the boardwalk and beach with no streets to cross.

-The awesome, temperature-controlled pool open all day.
